Bitcoin ATM’s have recently been targeted in Canada, and thieves made away with $200,000 in cash because of a double spend exploit. The Bitcoin core code has a replace by fee tool which allows a double spend to happen, to help with stuck transactions. The attacker’s used this tool to target ATMs with zero confirmations, making away hand over fist with cash from over 55 ATMs. Who implemented this tool into the the Bitcoin core code and was this done on purpose to make Bitcoin unusable as for payments. Waves cryptocurrency has recently refocused their mission to capitalize on Web 3.0. They are building out the tools to accomplish this goal for the mass population and enterprise. They also updated their roadmap showing when at what would be implemented.
