Before that, I've had good savings habits (50% of take-home salary) which have gone into index funds in my 401k, IRAs, and taxable accounts. Obviously, bitcoin has blown my other investments out of the water return-wise. I subscribe to the Boglehead Investment Philosophy, pioneered by John Bogle, the founder of Vanguard. This philosophy dictates that you shouldn't have too much of your wealth in one asset class in order to diversify risk. Since the bitcoin price increases of the past 6 months or so, my 10% bitcoin allocation has risen to about 40% of my net worth. I still feel that bitcoin is a good investment, but I'm at kind of a cognitive dissonance because my bitcoin position is becoming a significant portion of my net worth. I'm alone in my crypto appreciation among my family and peers...if I were to bring bitcoin up in a conversation with friends/family, or in the Boglehead's Investing Forum, they'd think putting money into bitcoin is about as sensible as putting money into penny stocks or rhodium futures. So here's the question: For someone that's debt-free and without dependents, what is your recommended allocation to bitcoin?
